The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) has lauded the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for its proactive and innovative approach to public sector transformation, aligning closely with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

During a two-day sensitization workshop held in Lagos, Director General of BPSR, Dr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, praised NIMASA’s commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and transparency through the automation of its systems. He noted that NIMASA stands out among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as a model institution embracing digital innovation to drive meaningful change.
In his keynote address titled “Overview of National Strategy for Public Service Reforms,” Dr. Arabi emphasized that reform efforts within government agencies must be intentional and results-driven. He cited NIMASA’s automation initiatives as a shining example of how digital technologies can transform service delivery.
“NIMASA is showing, in practical terms, what alignment with national reform goals should look like. Their embrace of automation is not just innovative—it is essential for modern governance,” Arabi said.
He also highlighted the importance of Reform Coordination Units within MDAs, describing them as key mechanisms for driving institutional change and aligning agency operations with national priorities. According to him, national initiatives such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA), Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), and Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) are critical for promoting accountability and transparency in governance.
“Our goal is to equip institutions with tools like the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) and foster collaboration across stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement in public service delivery,” he added.
In his remarks, Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to champion reforms that support innovation and national development.
“Reform is the pathway to innovation and national advancement. Without change, we risk stagnation. As a forward-looking organization, NIMASA is embracing transformation to fulfill its mandate and better serve the nation,” Mobereola said.
He urged staff of the agency to adopt a mindset of adaptability and openness to change, noting that institutional resilience is built through proactive reform and continuous improvement.
