Nigeria Police Commends SP Mariam Ogunmolasuyi At The Police Award Ceremony

SP Mariam Busola Ogunmolasuyi’s stature and age might suggest vulnerability, but her prowess in policing, intelligence, and hard work position her as a shining example for the youth of this generation, dedicated to bringing sanity to society.

As the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Piracy Unit at Zone-2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, SP Mariam’s leadership has breathed new life into the zone, compelling criminal elements to either reform or relocate to avoid the relentless pursuit of her operatives.

A graduate of the University of Lagos with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Cell Biology & Genetics and Criminology respectively, SP Mariam joined the Police Force on April 19, 2010, as Cadet Asp II. Her unwavering gallantry and investigative prowess earned her a nomination as one of the top three police investigators nationwide, making her the sole woman officer in that category at the recent Police Award and Commendation Ceremony held in Abuja on April 15, 2024.

At the ceremony, she was presented with a commendation certificate, recognizing her professionalism, discipline, dedication to duty, and outstanding performance in crime detection and investigation in the Nigeria Police Force throughout 2023.

SP Mariam’s accolades include the IGP Medal for Courage (2012), Most Outstanding Police Officer Award by Junior Chambers International (JCI) in 2012, NOA Civic Responsibility Medal in 2012, Presidential Medal for Exceptional Gallantry and Courage from President Goodluck Jonathan in 2013, Crime Buster Woman of the Year Award by TM News in 2023, among numerous others.

Described as a highly trained and committed police officer, SP Mariam sets a standard worth emulating through her professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty.
