The Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) has expressed empathy for Nigerians facing challenges due to the current availability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), which has resulted in queues at many retail outlets.

In a statement signed by Mr. Huub Stokman, MEMAN acknowledges the frustration and difficulties caused by this situation and is actively engaged in finding solutions.

MEMAN noted that the Downstream Regulator, NMDPRA, and other key stakeholders in the supply chain are fully committed to eliminating the queues as swiftly as possible. The association’s top priority is to restore stability and ensure prompt delivery of fuel supplies to all depots and retail outlets across Nigeria.

Despite the challenges, MEMAN reassured the public that there is an adequate supply of PMS available. Member companies in locations such as Apapa and other areas in Lagos are receiving product from eight vessels this week, totaling over 300 million liters of PMS, which exceeds normal levels. MEMAN is coordinating with member companies through swaps and other supply arrangements to ensure that member stations remain stocked. Additionally, depots will extend their loading times, including on May 1st, 2024, to maximize loading capacity.

MEMAN acknowledged the support of its partners in the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) in ensuring the safe and swift delivery of products to retail outlets. Selected retail outlets will extend their opening times to serve customers for longer durations, and independent marketers will receive additional PMS allocations to alleviate the situation.
