The initiative, organised under the Bank’s “Bring Your Child to Work” programme, gave children aged six and above an opportunity to visit their parents’ workplace, meet colleagues and gain insight into the roles their parents perform.

The children were selected through an internal trivia draw organised for employees. They took part in activities focused on creativity, teamwork, networking, interaction and curiosity.

A key feature of the programme was a guided tour of the Bank’s premises, including the banking hall and selected departments. The tour exposed the children to the different functions that contribute to the operations of a financial institution.

Welcoming the participants, Polaris Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Lawal, urged the children to remain curious and make the most of the opportunity.

Lawal, who was represented by the Head of Human Resources, Olanrewaju Oyekunle, said the programme was designed to help the children understand their parents’ professional lives while broadening their perspectives on future careers.

He encouraged the children to ask questions, learn and have fun, while noting that the experience could inspire them to consider careers in banking, entrepreneurship, medicine, engineering, technology and other fields.

Another major attraction was an interactive session led by the Bank’s Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Abimbola Ozomah, who introduced the children to the fundamentals of banking in a simple and engaging manner.

The session covered basic financial concepts, including how banks operate, the importance of saving and responsible money management. The children were also encouraged to ask questions, share their experiences and build new friendships during the programme.

For participating parents, the initiative offered an opportunity to give their children a closer view of their professional lives while teaching important values such as responsibility, collaboration, service and continuous learning. The programme further reflects Polaris Bank’s focus on employee wellbeing and a people centred workplace culture that recognises the connection between employees and their families.
