Union Bank Clinches WIMCA 2026 Gender Inclusion Award As Aluko Makes Top 50 Influential Women List

Union Bank of Nigeria has received fresh industry recognition for its commitment to gender inclusion, winning the Most Outstanding Bank in Gender Inclusion award at the 2026 Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards, WIMCA.

The award was presented on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, during a gathering of leading women in marketing, communications and brand management from across Africa.

The recognition underscores Union Bank’s efforts to promote gender diversity and create an inclusive environment that supports women in the workplace, entrepreneurship and the wider financial ecosystem.

The bank has continued to support women through tailored financial solutions, capacity building, mentorship, networking opportunities and initiatives designed to strengthen their economic participation and professional advancement.

Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” WIMCA 2026 focused on resilience, leadership, professional excellence and the growing role of women in shaping the marketing and communications industry.

The conference also examined emerging trends across the brands and marketing ecosystem, providing a platform for industry leaders to exchange ideas on innovation, career development and sustainable professional growth.

Adding to Union Bank’s recognition, its Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Mrs Olufunmilola Aluko, was named among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications.

Aluko joined other prominent brand and communications executives recognised for their contributions to the growth and transformation of the industry.

Reacting to the honours, Aluko said Union Bank’s recognition represented a validation of the institution’s sustained commitment to gender inclusion and its role in promoting institutional excellence.

She said the bank remained committed to supporting platforms and initiatives that enable women to build meaningful careers, assume leadership responsibilities and contribute to the development of the marketing and communications sector.

According to her, the recognition would further strengthen the bank’s resolve to expand opportunities for women across its workforce, customer base and the broader society.

Aluko added that gender inclusion remained an important driver of innovation, sustainable growth and organisational excellence, stressing the need for institutions to create environments where women could lead and thrive.

WIMCA, established by Nigerian brand and marketing publication Brand Communicator, has evolved into a major platform for recognising female leadership and promoting greater participation by women in marketing, branding and communications.

Union Bank said it would continue to support initiatives that promote women’s empowerment, inclusive growth and meaningful participation across the marketing and communications landscape.
