The Ogun State Police Command and other security agencies have intensified security operations along the Ogun and Ondo border corridor with a high level joint operational assessment and coordinated show of force aimed at strengthening safety across vulnerable communities.

The exercise, which covered the Ogun Waterside axis including Iwopin, Abigi and Ibiade, was designed to consolidate the successes of Operation Kosaye while reinforcing ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities along the border communities.
Leading the operation were the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, alongside the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, retired Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun, who coordinated the strategic assessment with other heads of security agencies in the state.
Other participants included the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General J.O. Onu; the Director of the Department of State Services in Ogun State, R.A. Adelakun; the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Remilekun Ekundayo; the Commander of the Ogun State Security Network, Amotekun Corps, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (Rtd.); and the Commander of the So Safe Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo.
Executive Chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas also joined the operation, reflecting the state’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between security institutions and local authorities.
The assessment team travelled through strategic communities along the Ijebu Ode Ore Expressway, covering J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin and Abigi before concluding at Ajebandele, the boundary community between Ogun and Ondo states.
At each location, the security chiefs inspected critical infrastructure, identified vulnerable flashpoints and evaluated the operational environment to improve the effectiveness of security deployments within the corridor.

The exercise also focused on strengthening inter agency cooperation through intelligence sharing, coordinated patrols and improved operational planning aimed at sustaining security dominance across the border communities.
Security officials equally engaged community stakeholders during the exercise, encouraging stronger public participation in intelligence gathering and emphasising the importance of timely information in preventing criminal activities.
The show of force provided visible reassurance to residents, motorists and businesses operating within the corridor, demonstrating the readiness of security agencies to respond swiftly to emerging threats and maintain law and order.
Addressing participants, Ojajuni commended the synergy among the military, police, intelligence agencies, paramilitary organisations and local authorities, describing the collaboration as critical to safeguarding lives and property.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining joint security operations, expanding intelligence driven policing and deploying modern technology to strengthen crime prevention efforts across Ogun State.
The commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible and actionable information, stressing that effective policing depends on active community partnership.

He assured the public that security agencies would maintain continuous surveillance of the Ogun Ondo border corridor to deny criminal elements safe havens and preserve peace across the affected communities.
The Police Command advised residents to report suspicious activities through the Gateway Shield toll free line, 0800 000 9111, or the emergency numbers 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369 and 0708 497 2994, reaffirming its resolve to ensure the security of lives and property throughout Ogun State.
