Police Convoy Kills Inspector With PhD In Enugu As Family Seeks Justice

A serving police Inspector, Dr. Obodo Paul Ikechukwu has been crushed to death by a police convoy in Enugu State.

The incident took place at Bisala Road, very close to government house , Enugu State around 7 to 8pm on July 5th, 2026.

Reports said the Inspector who was serving under Operations department in Enugu State Police command was knocked down by the police convoy along New Heaven/ Bisalla road while he was on his way to his duty post.

According eyewitness account, he was going to work that faithful evening, in between 7pm to 8pm and as soon as he alighted from a commercial bus to cross the major road, the convoy knocked him down and dragged his body for some distance .

Witnesses said drivers of the convoy after noticing that they have killed somebody, sped off without stopping to render help.

It was gathered that his crushed body and rifle laid helplessly on the road for hours before people rushed to remove it and used his telephone to alert his friends and relatives.

As at the time of going to press, it was leaned that relations to the deceased who holds a doctorate degree, have been going round police stations to call for help without noticeable responses.

Calls made to the Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu were not responded to while members of his family are still running helter skelter to appeal to the police to help apprehend drivers of the convoy.

The deceased popularly called Apoka hails from Nkpologu in Uzo-Uwani L.G.A. of Enugu State and was among the very few phd holders in the police force in the country.
