The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, on Thursday received a high powered delegation from the Shandong Provincial Public Security Department of the People’s Republic of China during an official working visit to the command headquarters in Lagos.
The Chinese delegation was led by the Deputy Director in charge of Daily Operations at the Shandong Provincial Public Security Department, Mr. Zhang Yuebo, who arrived alongside senior officials for discussions aimed at strengthening security cooperation and professional policing ties between both institutions.
Senior police officers and members of the management team of Zone 2 Command formally welcomed the visitors in what authorities described as another milestone in the growing relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the Chinese security institution.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2 Headquarters, DSP Afolayan Gbenga, the visit was designed to reinforce bilateral collaboration, deepen intelligence sharing and improve strategic cooperation in modern security management and law enforcement operations.
Speaking during the engagement, Zhang Yuebo expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to his delegation and reaffirmed the commitment of the Shandong Provincial Public Security Department to sustained collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
He stressed that stronger international partnerships remain vital in tackling transnational crimes, cyber related offences and other emerging global security threats confronting nations across the world.
In his remarks, AIG Jimoh described the visit as a major boost to the long standing relationship between Zone 2 Command Headquarters and the Shandong Provincial Public Security Department, noting that both institutions have maintained productive engagements since 2019.
The AIG stated that the partnership has continued to deliver positive results in critical areas including counter terrorism operations, cybercrime prevention, intelligence gathering and capacity development for police personnel.
Jimoh also conveyed the goodwill message of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the visiting delegation, while reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to professionalism, intelligence driven policing, technological innovation, community partnership and the protection of human rights.
He further commended the Shandong Provincial Public Security Department for supporting the training and professional development of officers serving in Lagos and Ogun State Commands, adding that the partnership has significantly improved operational efficiency and policing standards within Zone 2 Command.
