…Disu moves top officers in strategic reset

In a sweeping reorganisation aimed at boosting efficiency and strengthening command structure, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the redeployment of senior officers across key formations nationwide.

The postings, announced at Force Headquarters in Abuja, signal a decisive push to enhance operational capacity and reposition the Nigeria Police Force for improved service delivery.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, the reshuffle aligns with ongoing reforms designed to ensure strategic deployment of experienced officers to critical roles.

At the top tier, several Assistant Inspectors General of Police were reassigned to pivotal departments, including operations, intelligence, training and legal services.

Others were deployed to zonal commands across the country, reinforcing leadership presence in areas considered vital to national security coordination.

Notably, new postings also affected specialised units such as community policing, armament, research and planning, and the Police Affairs Branch.

In a parallel move, Commissioners of Police were redeployed to state commands and strategic departments, reflecting a broader effort to inject fresh leadership into operational theatres.

States including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Adamawa, Taraba, Zamfara, Sokoto and the Federal Capital Territory recorded changes in command as part of the shake up.

Beyond state commands, several commissioners were assigned to critical national and international desks, including INTERPOL, election management support, and specialised investigation units.

Others were posted to training institutions, anti fraud units, special protection services and tactical formations such as SWAT and safer highway units.

The reorganisation also extended to administrative and technical departments, underscoring a holistic restructuring approach that cuts across all levels of the Force.

The Inspector General charged the affected officers to deploy their experience and professionalism in their new roles, stressing the need for discipline and integrity.

The latest postings, observers say, reflect a strategic recalibration as the Force intensifies efforts to tackle evolving security challenges and restore public confidence.
