The General Officer Commanding, 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has reaffirmed the Division’s resolve to sustain robust support and operational collaboration with the Nigerian Army Intelligence School (NAIS), underscoring intelligence as the backbone of effective military operations.
The reassurance was given during a courtesy visit by the Commandant of NAIS, Brigadier General D. Umaru, to the Division Headquarters in Lagos on February 12, 2026, in a meeting that highlighted shared strategic priorities and institutional trust.
In a press statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, the visit was described as a confidence-building engagement aimed at strengthening inter-formation cooperation in a rapidly evolving security environment.
Major General Babalola, while welcoming the NAIS Commandant, stressed the indispensable role of timely, accurate and actionable intelligence in modern military engagements, noting that effective intelligence support remains central to safeguarding the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
He assured the NAIS leadership of the Division’s continued readiness to provide all necessary support, cooperation and enabling environment required for intelligence training and operational effectiveness.
The GOC further called for sustained information sharing and closer institutional ties, describing intelligence collaboration as a force multiplier in both peace and security operations.
Earlier, Brigadier General Umaru expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and revealed that 81 Division was the first formation he visited since assuming command, a move he said reflected the strategic importance of the Division.
He congratulated Major General Babalola on his appointment as the 26th GOC of 81 Division and wished him a successful and impactful tour of duty.
The NAIS Commandant also reaffirmed his commitment to deepening cooperation with the Division, pledging continued support in intelligence training and capacity building.
The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs, signing of the Visitors’ Book and a group photograph, sealing what both sides described as a reaffirmation of partnership built on trust, professionalism and shared responsibility for national security.
