…CP Ikioye Orutugu Orders Full Enforcement as Election Nears
As preparations intensify for the November 8, 2025, Anambra Governorship Election, the Anambra State Police Command has issued a strong warning against the use of vehicles without number plates or with covered registration numbers across the state.
The warning was issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, as part of ongoing security operations designed to ensure peace, safety, and a credible electoral process in the state.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner described the act of driving unregistered or concealed vehicles as a major security threat that endangers public safety, particularly during the sensitive pre-election period.
“The Command will not tolerate any act capable of undermining the security architecture of the State. Vehicles without proper registration or with covered plates will be impounded, and offenders will face prosecution,” the CP warned.
According to the statement, criminal elements often exploit such vehicles to commit crimes, evade law enforcement, and destabilize the peace of the state.
The Commissioner has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders to intensify patrols, conduct regular stop-and-search operations, and ensure the strict enforcement of the directive throughout Anambra State.
These operations, according to the CP, are part of broader efforts to maintain public confidence and ensure the safety of all residents and visitors during the election period.
The Anambra State Police Command urges residents Ndi Anambra to cooperate fully with security agencies by adhering to traffic and security regulations and by reporting any suspicious persons or movements promptly.
Members of the public are advised to reach the Command through the emergency hotlines 112 or 07039194332 for any security-related concerns.
“Our commitment is to protect lives and property and to ensure that the forthcoming governorship election is peaceful, credible, and secure for all,” the statement concluded.
