The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, received the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Ogun State, Mrs. Adewuyi Omolabake Frances, alongside members of her executive management team, on a strategic courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
According to a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the visit aimed to strengthen the long-standing institutional synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the NYSC, reinforce joint commitment to corps members’ safety, and deepen collaborative frameworks for community-oriented security across Ogun State.
The delegation was led by the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Adewuyi Omolabake Frances, accompanied by several Assistant Directors of the Scheme in the State. In her address, Mrs. Adewuyi expressed profound gratitude to the Commissioner of Police for the exceptionally warm reception accorded to her and her management team. She commended the harmonious and collaborative relationship existing between the NYSC and the Ogun State Police Command, particularly praising the Command for its exemplary care, mentorship, and holistic development of corps members posted to police formations.
She further appreciated the Command’s proactive security measures in ensuring the safety and well-being of corps members across all local government areas in the State. Concluding her remarks, the State Coordinator pledged the Scheme’s continued cooperation in intelligence sharing and urged the Command not to relent in its robust efforts to maintain a secure and peaceful Ogun State.
In his response, CP Bode Ojajuni warmly welcomed the State Coordinator and her entourage, underscoring the core constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force. He emphasized that under his leadership, the Ogun State Police Command has prioritized the protection of lives and property as a non-negotiable operational standard, assuring that the Command will persistently uphold this mandate for all residents, including corps members.
Addressing the corps members present during the audience, the Commissioner shared reflections from his own youth service experience years ago, illustrating how that pivotal national service period significantly shaped his career and personal development. He encouraged the corps members to maximize the unique opportunities presented by the NYSC scheme to build character, resilience, and leadership skills. He sternly admonished them to shun all forms of criminality and illicit association, cautioning that the NYSC uniform offers no immunity against criminal liability should an infraction be established against anyone. He charged them to remain exemplary ambassadors of the NYSC, their respective home states, and the nation at large.
Expanding on non-kinetic approaches to crime prevention, CP Ojajuni introduced the delegation and corps members to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV). Sensitizing the gathering on the destructive dangers of cultism, substance abuse, and other social vices, the Commissioner highlighted POCACOV as a critical, community-driven framework designed to safeguard youths through value re-orientation and strategic advocacy. He further disclosed plans for an upcoming statewide campaign aimed at deepening the reach and impact of the POCACOV initiative across educational and community structures in Ogun State.
Reengaging the NYSC leadership, CP Ojajuni urged the management team to remain steadfast in their regulatory oversight, emphasizing that strict adherence to established rules and discipline is essential to raising upright, responsible citizens.
Concluding his address, the Commissioner referenced the Command’s recent swift and professional operational response that led to the safe rescue of 18 corps members stranded at a vulnerable location along the Ogbere–Ijebu Ode axis after their vehicle broke down at night and their subsequent safe evacuation to Ijebu Ode, reiterating that the protection and security of every individual within Ogun State remains the paramount and unwavering priority of the Command.
