Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued seven kidnapped victims in a coordinated offensive against criminal hideouts in Taraba State.
The victims, abducted on 3 August 2025 along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road by suspected kidnappers, were freed during search and rescue operations conducted on 5 and 6 August.
During the mission, troops encountered the kidnappers, who abandoned the captives and fled following sustained pressure and superior firepower. Four victims were found unharmed in Chinkai Forest on 5 August, while the remaining three women were rescued the next day in Owedi Community, Wukari Local Government Area.
Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and described the operation as a major success in the fight against criminality. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations to curb kidnapping and protect lives and property across Taraba State.
