The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, has received the President-General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, and members of his National Executive Council on a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Lagos.
The visit, held on Tuesday, 5 August 2025, underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between law enforcement agencies and stakeholders in the maritime sector. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the welfare of maritime workers and ensuring the integrity of port operations.
Comrade Abi commended the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command for its strategic role in securing the port environment and maintaining industrial harmony. He assured the Union’s readiness to work closely with the Police to address security concerns, encourage lawful conduct among members, and promote smooth port operations.
In response, CP Ishola praised the Union’s proactive engagement and reiterated the Command’s dedication to maintaining a peaceful and crime-free maritime space. He emphasized that policing port facilities requires strong cooperation and information sharing with stakeholders like the MWUN.
The Commissioner assured the delegation of the Command’s readiness to provide necessary support, enforce the law fairly, and protect all maritime stakeholders. The meeting ended with an interactive session and exchange of goodwill messages, cementing both parties’ resolve to strengthen collaboration for a safer and more productive maritime industry.
