The Anambra State Police Command has announced significant security breakthroughs over the past week, including the arrest of a suspect found in possession of a human body part, the rescue of a kidnapped driver, the recovery of a stolen vehicle, and the arrest of three suspects involved in a truck diversion valued at over N9.5 million.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Sunday, the Command disclosed that operatives attached to Awada Police Station, in conjunction with Anambra Vigilante Operatives, arrested one Samuel Eze, aged 25, at about 3:30 p.m. on July 6, 2025, while on patrol along Jude Onyekwere Street, Awada, Obosi. The suspect was found with a woman’s breast, which was immediately recovered and deposited at the morgue for preservation. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.
In a separate incident, officers of the Rapid Response Squad, acting on credible intelligence, rescued a kidnapped truck driver on July 4, 2025, at about 12:45 p.m. The victim was abducted while transporting goods to a warehouse in Asaba, Delta State. The suspects reportedly diverted the truck—loaded with custard powder worth N9,500,000—to Enugwu Ukwu after tying the driver up in a bush.
Three male suspects—Udegenyi Ugochukwu (38), Anayochukwu Okonkwo (47), and Good Odigili (47)—were arrested and confessed to the crime. The truck and goods were recovered intact, and the driver was rescued unharmed.
In another development, operatives from the Obosi Division recovered a suspected stolen and abandoned vehicle during patrol duties. The custom-colour Toyota Sienna, bearing registration number 736 JP and marked with the inscription *Forum of Accountants Delta State*, was found abandoned at about 4:30 p.m. on July 5, 2025, along Okpuno-Umuota Village Road, Obosi.
The Police Command has called on anyone or any group who may have legitimate claims to the recovered vehicle to come forward with valid proof of ownership for verification and possible collection.
SP Ikenga reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and security. He also noted that joint security surveillance involving the Police, Military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Immigration Service, Department of State Services (DSS), and Anambra Vigilante Groups (AVG) is ongoing across the state.
