Polaris Bank has announced plans to host the 2025 edition of its Annual Media Capacity Seminar, underscoring its continued investment in strengthening journalism practice and media professionalism across Nigeria.
The seminar, scheduled for Thursday, July 17, 2025, will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will feature top media professionals as facilitators. The theme for this year’s edition is “Empowering Journalists in the Digital Age: Storytelling, Tools & Transformation.”
Renowned media trainer and founder of The Journalism Clinic, Taiwo Obe, and BBC Senior Journalist Abayomi Adisa are billed to lead the seminar sessions, sharing critical insights on digital storytelling, newsroom transformation, and emerging tools for modern journalism.
Now in its 11th year, the Polaris Media Capacity Seminar has grown into a leading media development platform. Since its inception in 2015, the programme has trained over 5,500 journalists across print, broadcast, and digital media, helping to equip them with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the evolving media landscape.
The 2024 edition of the seminar, which was held in a hybrid format, attracted over 500 participants and focused on “Integrating AI Tools in Contemporary Media Practices.” Participants were trained on topics such as fact-checking, data journalism, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in newsroom operations.
This year’s seminar will continue to focus on critical issues shaping journalism today, with a focus on technology-driven storytelling, ethical reporting practices, and innovation in newsroom workflows. Organizers say the session is designed to help journalists remain relevant and impactful in an increasingly digital and fast-paced information age.
Participation in the seminar is free but subject to prior registration. Interested journalists and media professionals are encouraged to register through the official seminar link: bit.ly/PAMC2025.
Polaris Bank, a leading player in Nigeria’s financial services sector, reiterated its long-standing commitment to promoting responsible journalism and supporting the development of a more informed and progressive society through consistent media education.
The seminar is expected to draw participants from across the country and contribute significantly to capacity building in the media sector.
