The Kano State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspects, Umar Aliyu (25) and Sabiu Kabiru (27), both residents of Gunduwawa Village, Gezawa Local Government Area, Kano State. The arrest took place on 7th August 2025 at approximately 3:00 PM, carried out by the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS), following actionable intelligence and the directive of the State Commissioner of Police.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, ANIPR, MNISMA, Police Public Relations Officer, a thorough search of the suspects led to the recovery of the following items:
23 mobile phones (10 Android, 13 keypad phones)
3 Point-of-Sale (POS) machines
17 Opay Instant Debit Cards
3 MP3 players
8 mobile phone batteries
1 power bank
During questioning, the suspects admitted to conspiring and breaking into a business center in Dinyar Madiga Village, Takai Local Government Area, where they allegedly stole the items. However, further investigation revealed discrepancies in their account, and it was determined that the stolen goods did not come from the stated location.
To assist with the recovery and identification of the rightful owners, the Command is displaying the recovered items. Members of the public who recognize any of these items or have relevant information about their ownership are urged to visit the Police Public Relations Officer’s office at the Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano.
