The Lagos State Police Command has successfully restored order in Onosa Community, Elemoro, following a disturbance earlier today, August 29, 2025. The incident began in the early hours when six officers from the Elemoro Division, while conducting a routine patrol, encountered an angry mob.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the officers, in an effort to protect themselves, discharged their firearms, which led to three individuals being injured. The injured persons were promptly taken to a hospital for medical care.
In response, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, swiftly mobilized a team of officers to the scene. CP Jimoh personally led the operation, which involved clearing barricades and restoring free-flowing traffic in the area. He also engaged with local youth and community leaders to help de-escalate the situation, encouraging dialogue to promote understanding. Additionally, CP Jimoh has invited community leaders for further talks to address ongoing concerns and prevent future tensions.
The officers involved in the incident have been taken into custody as investigations are underway. The Lagos State Police Command is committed to a thorough and impartial inquiry to determine the facts surrounding the altercation.
