Governor Mutfwang Commissions Ultra-Modern Maize Milling Plant In Plateau State

Plateau State took a bold step toward agro-industrial transformation on Tuesday as Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang commissioned an ultra-modern maize milling plant owned by Benybite Foods Nigeria Limited in Jos, the state capital.

The commissioning of the facility, considered one of the most advanced in Nigeria, underscores the administration’s commitment to industrial revitalization, agricultural value chain development, and job creation.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to revive ailing industries and position Plateau as a hub for agro-processing and export-oriented production.

“We want to revive all the ailing industries in the state. That’s why we’ve reached out to Rescue Mill, which is currently on the brink of collapse. Our goal is to make Plateau a business hub for ventures like this. Once we meet local demand, we can expand beyond the state and even beyond the country,” the Governor stated.

He praised the management of Benybite Foods for their bold investment, describing the project as a catalyst for economic transformation and a perfect fit for his administration’s industrial roadmap.

Governor Mutfwang also reiterated his commitment to addressing infrastructure and energy challenges in order to support industrial growth. He expressed confidence that the Plateau State Energy Commission and the State Energy Corporation would deliver long-term solutions to power supply, especially for industries.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Benybite Foods Nigeria Limited, Mr. Benjamin Kayode-Ojo, described the facility as the largest maize milling plant in Plateau and the second most advanced food-processing facility in Nigeria.

“This plant places Plateau at the epicenter of modern agricultural processing in the country,” he said, adding that the plant can process 6,000 tons of maize monthly and clean over 10,000 tons using cutting-edge stainless steel technology.

He noted that the facility is positioned to serve as a key supplier of raw materials to Jos International Breweries and other food and beverage companies across Nigeria.

Mr. Kayode-Ojo commended Governor Mutfwang for his leadership and support, revealing that although the factory was initially scheduled for completion in one year, it was delivered in just six months thanks to the expertise of local technicians.

“This is proof that when we believe in ourselves and invest in local capacity, we can achieve great things,” he remarked.

The event was attended by top government officials, business leaders, and stakeholders in the agro-processing sector, signaling renewed investor confidence in Plateau State’s economic future.
