The Ogun State Police Command has endorsed the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, SWAT 1.0 Students’ Conference scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2026, at the institution’s Leadership Auditorium.
The conference, which begins at 9 a.m., is themed, “Preparing Students for a Purposeful Future While Navigating Campus with Excellence.” It is designed to equip students with practical knowledge, positive values and leadership skills needed to excel academically and make responsible decisions.
SWAT, an acronym for Security, Welfare, Academics, Training and Seminar, brings together critical areas of student development, providing a platform for discussions on campus life, academic excellence, welfare, leadership and personal development.
The Ogun Police Command said security and effective Police Student engagement would be central to the conference, noting that constructive dialogue could promote security consciousness, peaceful coexistence and responsible conduct among students.
The Command commended the SUG President and Convener, Comr. Akinpelu B. Timothy, and his executive team for initiating the programme, describing student focused engagements as important to building stronger relationships between young people and security agencies.
The Command, through its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babasеyi, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes that strengthen Police Student relations and contribute to safe, peaceful and conducive learning environments across tertiary institutions in Ogun State.
