Marking a decade of educational impact in Nigeria, Teach For Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation and member of the Teach For All network, has kicked off its 10th cohort leadership training at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.

The organisation welcomed more than 500 prospective fellows and teacher-leaders from across the federation, beginning with registration, headshots, check-in, lunch, and the institute’s first lecture. Before settling on the final cohort of about 500 trainees, Teach For Nigeria rigorously screened applicants through multiple stages, reducing the applicant pool from more than 30,000 to fewer than 600.

It is the mantra and belief of the training institute that one day every Nigerian child will have access to quality education, regardless of socio-economic background. The organisation sees trained leaders, especially teacher-leaders with direct access to grassroots communities, as central to achieving that goal.

The training will run from Wednesday, 12 August 2026 to Saturday, 5 September 2026. It will comprise tried-and-tested transformative methodologies and techniques designed to steer Nigeria towards a future of expanded opportunity. The institute says every trainee and fellow will be ready to lead and transform by the end of the programme.
