Police Senior Officers To Set 2027 Election Security Roadmap At CARSPO 2026

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the sixth edition of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, CARSPO 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s preparedness for the 2027 General Elections.

The conference, scheduled for September 21 to 23, 2026, will take place in Owerri, Imo State, in collaboration with Lenders Consult International. With the theme, “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections,” the conference is expected to bring together senior police officers, policing experts and other key stakeholders.

The Police said the meeting would provide a platform for examining emerging security challenges associated with elections and developing practical responses to ensure safe, peaceful and credible polls.

Deliberations will focus on intelligence led policing, police community partnerships, digital technologies and artificial intelligence, among other contemporary approaches to improving police operations.

The conference will primarily involve officers of the rank of Commissioner of Police and above, providing them with an avenue for strategic engagement on election security and operational preparedness.

Particular attention will be given to measures for protecting voters, electoral officials, candidates, election materials and members of the public before, during and after the 2027 elections.

The Police Force said the outcome of the conference would contribute to the development of actionable strategies for strengthening its capacity to manage election related security challenges nationwide.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, September 21, in Owerri, with participants expected to review existing approaches and identify areas requiring stronger coordination and operational response.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the Nigeria Police Force remained committed to strategic leadership, professionalism and operational readiness towards providing a peaceful, safe and secure environment for the 2027 General Elections.
