The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Olohundare Jimoh, has urged newly promoted senior police officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking during the decoration ceremony held at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, Jimoh said the promotions were not only a reward for years of dedicated service but also a call to greater responsibility at a critical time for national security.
The beneficiaries of the promotion exercise included four Deputy Commissioners of Police, five Assistant Commissioners of Police and one Superintendent of Police, all elevated to higher ranks in recognition of their outstanding service records.
Jimoh said the promotions reflected the confidence reposed in the officers by the Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the Police Force Management.
He congratulated the officers on reaching another important milestone in their careers, stressing that their new ranks came with increased expectations and greater leadership responsibilities.
The AIG observed that the Nigeria Police Force was operating in an environment marked by evolving security threats and growing public demand for efficient, transparent and people centred policing.
According to him, the promotions should be viewed as a vote of confidence in the officers’ ability to provide effective leadership and deliver quality policing that meets the expectations of Nigerians.
Jimoh urged the newly promoted officers to lead with courage, fairness and integrity while maintaining zero tolerance for corruption, abuse of office and every form of professional misconduct.
He further charged them to remain steadfast in protecting lives and property while strengthening public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through exemplary conduct and ethical service.
The senior police officer also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the officers and their families, noting that their commitment, resilience and dedication had contributed significantly to their career advancement.
Jimoh emphasised the need for the Force to deepen intelligence driven policing, leverage modern technology and sustain continuous professional development to effectively tackle emerging security challenges.
He encouraged the officers to align their responsibilities with global policing standards while safeguarding the rights, dignity and fundamental freedoms of every citizen.
The AIG congratulated the newly decorated officers and their families, urging them to remain focused on excellence and approach every assignment with determination, discipline and an unwavering sense of duty.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Deputy Commissioner of Police Deborah Omoruan expressed gratitude to God, the Inspector General of Police, the Police Service Commission and the Police Force Management for finding them worthy of promotion.
