The National Patriots Movement of Nigeria has expressed strong confidence in the integrity and professionalism of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, stating that official records relating to the Ajiran murder investigation have strengthened public trust in his conduct and commitment to justice.
In a statement issued by its President, Princess G. Adebajo-Fraser, MFR, who is also Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, the group said documentary evidence now in the public domain supports the lawfulness and transparency of the investigation, while dispelling allegations circulated against the senior police officer.
According to the statement, the National Patriots carefully reviewed the available official records and concluded that they reinforce AIG Jimoh’s long-standing reputation as one of Nigeria’s most disciplined and accomplished police officers, known for professionalism, operational excellence and intelligence-driven policing.
The organisation cautioned Nigerians against relying on social media narratives in place of verified facts, stressing that allegations should never outweigh documentary evidence, due process and the rule of law.
It noted that AIG Jimoh’s distinguished career has been marked by exceptional service, earning him the National Patriots Award for Outstanding Professional Excellence, Courage, Integrity and Service to the Nation in recognition of his contributions to internal security, crime prevention and ethical leadership.
The statement recalled his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, where he promoted proactive intelligence gathering, strengthened inter-agency collaboration and implemented policing strategies aimed at preventing crime before it occurred.
It added that under his leadership, sustained operations against armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes enhanced public confidence in policing and reinforced Lagos’ reputation as one of the country’s most effectively secured states.
The National Patriots observed that officers who pursue sensitive criminal investigations without fear or favour often attract criticism from individuals dissatisfied with investigative outcomes, insisting that such scrutiny should always be measured against credible evidence rather than public sentiment.
According to the group, official records indicate that the Ajiran murder investigation was carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and supported by witness statements, investigative findings and judicial processes, all within the framework of the law.
It described the emergence of these records as a positive development that underscores the importance of transparency, accountability and judicial oversight in strengthening democratic institutions.
The organisation also commended the Centre for Human and Socio-Economic Rights (CHSR) for what it described as a balanced intervention that supported the professionalism of the investigation while encouraging strict neutrality and adherence to due process by all parties involved.
While acknowledging that the criminal proceedings remain before competent courts, the National Patriots emphasised that every accused person is entitled to the constitutional presumption of innocence, just as every investigating officer deserves a fair assessment based solely on credible evidence.
The group maintained that Nigeria requires more law enforcement leaders who remain loyal to the Constitution, the rule of law and the public interest rather than intimidation or external pressure.
It therefore reaffirmed its confidence in AIG Jimoh’s professional record and urged Nigerians to allow the courts to determine all issues arising from the case without prejudice or interference.
The statement further encouraged the Nigeria Police Force to continue supporting officers who demonstrate integrity, discipline, operational competence and unwavering commitment to combating crime.
Princess Adebajo-Fraser concluded that history ultimately honours public servants who remain steadfast in the pursuit of justice despite controversy, adding that strengthening Nigeria’s institutions requires fairness, respect for due process and sustained public confidence in officers who faithfully discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
