The Lagos State Police Command has moved swiftly to calm growing concerns over a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school, assuring residents that there is no credible intelligence suggesting an imminent attack on any educational institution in the state.
The reassurance followed the circulation of reports claiming that bandits were planning to invade schools and abduct pupils. Police authorities said the information had been thoroughly reviewed and no verified security threat had been established.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command urged parents, guardians and school administrators to remain calm and avoid actions capable of triggering unnecessary panic.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, has ordered an immediate assessment of the situation and directed the implementation of enhanced security measures in the affected area and other strategic locations across Lagos.
Following the directive, security operatives have intensified surveillance and patrol operations around schools, public facilities and critical infrastructure to forestall any potential security breach.
The police disclosed that officers are working closely with other security agencies to ensure the safety of residents and maintain confidence in the state’s security architecture.
According to the Command, Lagos remains one of the safest states in the country, stressing that proactive measures are continually being adopted to prevent criminal elements from gaining any foothold within its borders.
The police further warned that individuals or groups attempting to spread fear, create panic or undermine public peace through false alarms or criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons, movements or activities within their communities.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Lagos State Police Command assured residents that all necessary resources have been deployed to protect lives and property, while urging the public to promptly report security concerns through designated emergency channels.
