The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and alleged notorious cult member during a security operation in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos.
The suspect, identified as 22 year old Odeshola Afeez, was apprehended following a distress call from concerned residents who reported that a young man was harassing members of the public and causing panic within the community.
Police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene after receiving the alert and successfully arrested the suspect before the situation escalated further.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one live cartridge and suspected traditional charms concealed on his person.
According to preliminary investigations, Afeez is believed to be a prominent cult figure who had allegedly been involved in activities that threatened public peace and security in the area.
Investigators further revealed that the suspect had reportedly been on the radar of law enforcement agencies and had allegedly evaded arrest on previous occasions before his eventual capture.
The police said the recovery of the firearm and ammunition marks another significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb violent crime and criminal networks operating within Lagos communities.
