Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old security guard, Friday Ayuba, over the alleged theft of motor spare parts belonging to his employer in Ita-Asu Village near Owode-Egba.
The suspect was apprehended following a coordinated operation involving officers of the Owode-Egba Division and the Quick Response Squad of the Command.
Police sources disclosed that the arrest was triggered by a complaint lodged by the management of the affected company after the suspect allegedly attempted to move company property without authorisation.
According to the Command, Ayuba was intercepted around the Sagamu Interchange corridor of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while transporting the items suspected to have been stolen from the company’s premises.
Recovered exhibits allegedly found in the suspect’s possession included four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats and two fuel pumps identified as property of the company.
Investigators said preliminary findings linked the recovered spare parts directly to the firm where the suspect worked as a security guard.
Police authorities further revealed that the suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation, admitting involvement in the alleged theft of the items.
Detectives attached to the Owode-Egba Division subsequently visited the scene as part of ongoing investigations and documentation procedures.
The recovered motor spare parts have since been secured as exhibits pending the conclusion of the investigation and prosecution process.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that the suspect remains in custody and would be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the vigilance of the company’s management and the swift response of officers involved in the operation.
The police chief praised the synergy between the Quick Response Squad and personnel of the Owode-Egba Division, noting that their prompt action led to the successful recovery of the allegedly stolen property.
Ojajuni reiterated the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to protecting businesses, critical assets and residents through intelligence-driven policing, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
