The Ogun State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in a series of coordinated intelligence driven operations that led to the arrest of five suspects, including a father and son, alongside the recovery of four firearms and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000.
The operations, carried out across multiple divisions in Ogun State, also resulted in the seizure of one locally made pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, two dane guns and a live cartridge, further underscoring the command’s renewed offensive against violent crime and illegal arms possession.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, operatives attached to the Afon Division arrested Fatai Adegbola and his 23 year old son, Waliu Adegbola, following a complaint of theft reported on May 22, 2026.
Police investigation revealed that Waliu allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment earlier in the month. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives tracked the suspect and successfully recovered the stolen device.
The statement disclosed that a follow up search conducted at the suspects’ residence after obtaining a valid warrant uncovered a locally made pistol and a dane gun allegedly hidden within the premises. Both suspects are currently in police custody as detectives intensify efforts to uncover possible criminal networks linked to the case.
In another operation, officers attached to the Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge during a routine patrol around the Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026.
Police authorities said the firearm was discovered abandoned at the scene and was immediately secured by the patrol team. The recovered weapon has since been deposited at the division’s armoury while investigations continue to determine its ownership and source.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Ode Remo Division arrested 25 year old Inioluwa Adesanya over the theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident in the area. Preliminary findings showed that the suspect allegedly gained access to the victim’s residence under the guise of assisting renovation work as a carpenter’s aide before stealing the firearm.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted being a member of the Aye confraternity. Investigators further revealed that the stolen dane gun had been modified for easy concealment. The firearm has been recovered and secured as exhibit.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and swift response, stressing that the command would sustain aggressive intelligence based policing against cultism, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms across Ogun State.
