In a decisive move to reinforce security architecture in Lagos, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has intensified inter-agency collaboration through a series of strategic visits to key military formations across the state.
The high-level engagements, conducted on April 22, 2026, saw the Police Commissioner interface with leadership of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force and the Nigerian Navy in a coordinated effort to deepen operational synergy.
Details of the visits were disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who described the engagements as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships critical to maintaining law and order.
At the 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, CP Fatai was received by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi, where discussions focused on sustaining joint internal security operations.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative strategies aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and protecting critical infrastructure within the state.
The Police Commissioner also visited the 651 Base Service Group of the Nigerian Air Force at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, where he was hosted by Air Commodore M. A. Imam.
Deliberations at the Air Force base centred on enhancing professionalism, strengthening intelligence sharing and improving coordinated responses to emerging security challenges.
At the Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT in Apapa, CP Fatai was received by Commodore Aiwuyor Adams Aliu, with talks focusing on securing Lagos waterways and strengthening maritime safety operations.
Both agencies underscored the importance of structured operational alignment, particularly in complex scenarios requiring multi agency coordination.
Speaking during the visits, Fatai emphasised that effective policing in a dynamic state like Lagos depends heavily on seamless collaboration among all security stakeholders.
He noted that the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces must continue to work in unity, guided by mutual respect and a shared responsibility to safeguard lives and property.
The Commissioner commended the Armed Forces for their consistent support, describing the partnership as vital in combating crime and addressing evolving security threats.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and enhancing public safety through strengthened alliances, assuring residents that security agencies remain united in their resolve to keep Lagos safe and stable.
