…Swift response averts tragedy as six injured in Ojodu crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed a dramatic rescue operation following a road traffic crash that shook commuters along Ogunnusi Road in Ojodu, Lagos, on Sunday morning.
The incident, which occurred at about 9:30 a.m., unfolded near Omole Gate, just before Chicken Republic, sending shockwaves through the usually busy corridor.
According to an official statement issued by the Lagos Sector Command and signed by the Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Elizabeth Oluwadamilola Jayeola, the crash involved a Toyota commercial bus with registration number KSF260YK.
Preliminary findings by the Corps pointed to suspected brake failure as the immediate cause of the accident, raising fresh concerns over vehicle roadworthiness on Lagos roads.
A total of 18 occupants were involved in the crash, comprising two males and sixteen females, highlighting the scale of the incident at the time it occurred.
Six passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries, though no lives were lost, a development attributed largely to the speed of emergency intervention.
FRSC operatives reportedly arrived at the scene within two minutes of receiving distress alerts, a rapid response that proved critical in stabilising the situation.
The injured victims were promptly evacuated and transported to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre for urgent medical attention.
Emergency responders, working in coordination with FRSC personnel, also moved swiftly to manage traffic and restore order along the affected stretch of road.
Reacting to the incident, Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, urged motorists to prioritise routine vehicle maintenance, stressing that brake systems must be properly checked before embarking on any journey.
