The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory Command, Miller G. Dantawaye, has extended warm congratulations to the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, following his appointment and confirmation as the 23rd Indigenous head of the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking on behalf of officers and men of the FCT Police Command, Dantawaye described Disu’s elevation as a defining moment for the nation’s policing architecture, noting that his appointment reflects decades of dedication, discipline and professional excellence.
The commendation was conveyed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Josephine Adeh, who said the new police chief’s career trajectory has consistently demonstrated courage, operational brilliance and an unwavering commitment to public safety.
According to the command, Disu’s rise to the pinnacle of the force is widely seen as recognition of his visionary leadership and integrity, qualities that have earned him the confidence of officers, security stakeholders and members of the public across the country.
The statement recalled that Disu once served as the 32nd Commissioner of Police of the FCT Command, a tenure the command described as transformative and deeply impactful in shaping modern policing structures within the capital territory.
During that period, the command noted, Disu initiated strategic reforms that strengthened operational effectiveness, enhanced intelligence-driven policing and deepened community engagement across the Federal Capital Territory.
It added that many of the operational frameworks, discipline standards and crime-fighting strategies introduced under his leadership remain integral to the command’s present security architecture.
The command further acknowledged that Disu’s emphasis on personnel welfare, professionalism and community trust left what it called “remarkable footprints” that continue to guide the command’s approach to law enforcement and public service.
