As part of proactive security and confidence-building measures ahead of the 2026 Area Council elections, the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc., on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, embarked on an extensive community engagement tour across key districts of the FCT.
The tour covered Mabushi, Life Camp, Katampe, as well as the Kubwa and Bwari axis, where the Police Commissioner interacted directly with community leaders, residents, and critical stakeholders. The engagement was aimed at strengthening police–community relations, assessing local security concerns, and fostering collective responsibility for peaceful and credible elections.
During the visits, CP Dantawaye emphasized the importance of cooperation between the police and members of the public, noting that sustained dialogue and mutual trust remain essential to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the elections. He reassured residents of the Command’s readiness to deploy adequate security measures to safeguard lives, property, and the democratic process.
The Commissioner also urged community leaders to continue serving as effective channels of communication between their communities and security agencies, while encouraging residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police called on stakeholders to admonish their youths and wards to maintain a peaceful spirit of mutual understanding ahead of the 2026 Area Council elections as elections are not a do or die affair. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to inclusive policing, emphasizing that effective security can only be achieved through mutual trust, timely information sharing, and active community participation.
