
In a development that underscores the Ogun State Police Command’s renewed commitment to proactive policing and community safety, the Obantoko Divisional Police Headquarters has recovered a suspected stolen vehicle and successfully reunited it with its lawful owner.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Obantoko Division, on Friday handed over a silver-coloured Toyota RAV4 Jeep to its rightful owner after due verification of ownership documents, including the vehicle particulars and keys.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, the vehicle was recovered on January 17, 2026, at the Somorin Area of Obantoko, Abeokuta, by operatives of the Obantoko Division Surveillance Team during a routine patrol.
Babaseyi explained that the vehicle, suspected to have been stolen and abandoned, was promptly secured at the station, while information was circulated through relevant channels to trace and identify the owner. Following comprehensive checks and confirmation of ownership, the police formally released the vehicle to its lawful owner.
Commending the officers for their professionalism, diligence and swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, lauded the Obantoko Division Surveillance Team for exemplifying effective policing.
The police boss urged officers across the command to sustain the tempo of vigilance, intelligence-led patrols and community policing, stressing that such efforts remain critical to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
