In a major stride towards modernizing the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Olukayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has laid the foundation stone for the IGP Adeolu Olukayode Egbetokun Conference Centre at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

The ceremony, described as a landmark event in the Command’s history, underscores the IGP’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, promoting professionalism, and positioning the Force for 21st-century policing.

According to a statement by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, the edifice named in honour of the Inspector-General symbolizes visionary leadership, innovation, and a renewed drive for excellence within the Force.

Designed as a world-class multipurpose complex, the Conference Centre will serve as a hub for high-level security strategy sessions, inter-agency coordination, policy dialogues, press briefings, and training programmes. It is also expected to foster enhanced communication, operational synergy, and capacity development among officers and stakeholders.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, IGP Egbetokun commended the Lagos State Police Command under Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, for its exemplary performance, administrative competence, and dedication to operational effectiveness.

He further urged other Commands across the country to emulate Lagos in driving innovation, discipline, and infrastructural growth, noting that such initiatives are crucial to building a more responsive, technology-driven, and community-oriented Police Force.

The IGP reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to provide modern facilities across Police formations nationwide, aimed at strengthening institutional frameworks and aligning Nigeria’s policing architecture with global standards.
