The Lagos State Police Command has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division, who passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, following a surgical procedure at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.
In a statement signed by SP Abimbola Adebisi, anipr, mipra, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohunnare Jimoh, the Command expressed profound grief over the loss of an officer described as upright, disciplined, and exceptionally dedicated to duty.
“CSP Ngbaronye was an embodiment of professionalism, integrity, and compassion in policing. She served with distinction and commitment, maintaining a friendly and humane approach that helped strengthen public trust in the Police. At no time was she found wanting in the discharge of her duties,” the statement read.
The Command noted that the news of her passing came as a rude shock to officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command, many of whom had worked closely with her during her illustrious career.
Commissioner of Police CP Olohunnare Jimoh has personally reached out to her husband and elder brother, who is a clergyman, to convey the Command’s heartfelt condolences and to assure the bereaved family of the Police Command’s full support during this difficult time.
The Command also extended sympathies to her aged mother, friends, and colleagues, describing the late officer as a shining example of leadership, discipline, and community engagement.

The Lagos State Police Command joins family, friends, and the entire policing community in praying for the repose of her gentle soul and comfort for all who mourn her.
