In a demonstration of the growing collaboration between the media and law enforcement, the Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief of RazorNews Group, Mr. Odita Sunday, on Monday, October 20, 2025, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh Moshood, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
The visit underscored the importance of a strong media–security alliance in promoting safer communities, public trust, and effective information flow.
In his remarks, Odita Sunday described the visit as “a sincere expression of respect and appreciation for exemplary leadership and professionalism”, commending CP Jimoh for his transformative leadership since assuming office.

According to him, the Commissioner has redefined security management in Lagos through a blend of discipline, intelligence-led operations, and people-centred policing.
“Under your watch, the Command has witnessed measurable progress from a reduction in violent crimes to improved police-community relations,” Odita said.
“Your leadership has restored public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and positioned Lagos as a model of collaborative security governance.”

Odita lauded the CP’s open-door policy and constructive engagement with journalists, noting that transparency, communication, and public trust remain central to modern policing.
“At RazorNews, we believe that security and the media are twin pillars of societal stability,” he added. “The police ensure safety and order, while the media uphold accountability and enlightenment. When both work in synergy, the result is a more informed and secure society.”
He also acknowledged the supportive leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, whose pragmatic vision, he said, continues to strengthen the operational capacity of police commands nationwide.
In his response, CP Olohundare Jimoh Moshood thanked the RazorNews delegation for the visit and commended Odita Sunday for his professionalism and commitment to responsible journalism.

“We are pleased to have you with us today,” the Commissioner said. “You have been a voice of truth, direct, constructive, and objective. Even when you criticize, it is with purpose and insight. You are a mirror through which we assess ourselves, and that makes this partnership invaluable.”
He emphasized that the media play a crucial role in shaping public perception of security efforts and that sustained collaboration with journalists remains vital to building mutual trust and maintaining peace across Lagos State.
The CP outlined some of the Command’s major achievements since his assumption of office, crediting the Inspector-General of Police for his unwavering support and leadership.
Among these milestones is the establishment of the Coast Guard Force, a special initiative to enhance maritime security across Lagos and adjoining coastal corridors.

“The IGP has been solidly behind us,” CP Jimoh stated. “His swift approval and resource support enabled us to expand our patrol teams from five to ten, making both coastal and inland operations more seamless and coordinated.”
He further highlighted the dismantling of notorious criminal networks, the arrest of long-sought armed robbers and land grabbers, and the peaceful conduct of political activities, including the recent Lagos electoral processes.
“Despite early fears of violence, Lagos recorded one of its most peaceful pre-election and campaign periods in recent history, no lives lost, no property destroyed,” he noted. “That is the success of a coordinated security strategy, backed by the IGP and supported by the media’s responsible reportage.”
The CP added that the Command’s tactical squads have expanded from 23 to 33 units, significantly reducing kidnapping, container hijacking, and other high-profile crimes across the State.

CP Jimoh expressed gratitude to the media for their balanced coverage, noting that constructive reporting motivates officers to perform better.
“With continued partnership with the press, Lagos will remain a beacon of safety and progress in Nigeria,” he affirmed.
The courtesy visit, which highlighted the mutual interdependence between media and security institutions, reaffirmed that lasting peace thrives where information, trust, and collaboration are prioritized.

Present at the event were Sir Emma Nnadozie, Crime Editor of Vanguard Newspaper; Ogbuefi Hyacinth Nwafor, Publisher of Hybrid News; and ACP Idowu Jaiyeoba, among other distinguished guests.
As Nigeria continues its journey toward a more secure and democratic society, partnerships like this, between leaders such as CP Jimoh Moshood, media professionals like Odita Sunday, and the visionary leadership of the Inspector-General of Police serve as proof that when truth and duty align, progress becomes inevitable.
