The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Chinedu Oko, psc, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Ikeja, Lagos State.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer, ASP Adebayo Rasheed, anipr, the AIG and his delegation were warmly received by the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, ACG Mohammad Babandede, alongside his management team.
During the visit, AIG Chinedu Oko explained that the engagement was part of his familiarisation tour following his assumption of office. He emphasized the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, and joint operational synergy between the Maritime Police Command and the Nigeria Customs Service, especially within the maritime sector.
He noted that effective collaboration among security agencies is crucial to curbing economic sabotage along port corridors and promoting a secure, business-friendly environment for legitimate trade and commerce.
In his remarks, ACG Mohammad Babandede commended the AIG for the visit and reaffirmed the NCS’s commitment to strengthening existing partnerships with the Maritime Police Command. He pledged continued cooperation through timely intelligence exchange and joint operational support aimed at safeguarding national interests.
