The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the commencement of a discreet investigation into the killing of Ms. Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise News Channel, who was murdered during an armed robbery attack at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, described the incident as a “cruel and senseless act” while extending his condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late news anchor, reporter, and producer.
He assured that the Command remains committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and has directed the deployment of intelligence and operational teams to track down those responsible.
While calling on residents to support the ongoing probe with timely and useful information, the CP urged citizens to remain vigilant and raise prompt alarms in suspicious situations to help prevent criminal activities across the territory.

The Command expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and Nigeria’s media community, pledging to pursue justice for the slain journalist.
