Six people have been confirmed dead and three others injured in a late night crash involving a commercial truck and a tricycle along the Ikorodu-Shagamu Road, Lagos.
The accident, which occurred at about 11:48 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, happened in front of the Fire Service Station, Odogiyan. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, the crash involved a yellow TVS tricycle and a white FAW truck.
Superintendent Route Commander Oluwadamilola Jayeola, the State Public Education Officer, said preliminary investigations revealed overspeeding as the cause of the collision. Despite the swift response of FRSC rescue officials, six adult males were confirmed dead at the scene, while three survivors were rushed to Ikorodu General Hospital for treatment. The vehicles have since been moved to Sagamu Road Police Station for further investigation.
Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the recovery of the injured. He warned motorists against overspeeding, noting that reckless driving is a major cause of preventable deaths, especially during the ember months.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed also cautioned road users to prioritize safety over speed. He urged passengers to call out reckless drivers to prevent avoidable tragedies, stressing that “every life lost on the road is one too many.”
The FRSC Lagos Sector Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, preventing crashes, and ensuring safer highways across the state.
