The Anambra State Police Command has congratulated Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo on his initiation into the ancient and prestigious Agbalanze Society of Onicha Ado n’Idu Kingdom.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on behalf of officers and men of the Command, described the honour as a recognition of DIG Okolo’s distinguished service to both his community and the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the statement, Okolo’s initiation makes him one of the few serving police officers to attain such a revered cultural milestone.
The Agbalanze Society, known for its ancestral heritage and values of integrity, courage, and community service, is regarded as a symbol of leadership and cultural identity in Onitsha. The Command noted that DIG Okolo’s initiation a reflects his lifelong commitment to excellence, duty, and respect for tradition.
The event, held in Onitsha, drew prominent dignitaries including Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo; the Inspector General of Police, represented by DIG Frank Mba; DIG Williams Adebowale; Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 13, AIG Abayomi Oladapo; as well as other senior police officers and respected personalities.
The Command expressed pride in DIG Okolo’s achievement and prayed for “God’s continuous guidance, wisdom, and strength upon him as he continues to serve the nation and uphold the dignity of his cultural heritage.”
