Uhunmwode Sets Stage For Economic Transformation With September Summit

Uhunmwode Local Government Area in Edo State is preparing for a major economic turnaround as the council, under the leadership of Chairman Hon. Benjamin Osas Iredia, gears up to host the Uhunmwode Economic Summit in September 2025.

Themed “Uhunmwode Economic Summit”, the event is designed to position the local government for sustainable growth, aligning with the broader development agenda of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.

Hon. Iredia, in a statement issued to journalists in Benin, disclosed that preparations have already commenced with the Uhunmwode Youth Wealth Creation and Skill Seminar, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The seminar marks the beginning of a series of activities branded “Ahead of the Uhunmwode Economic Summit.”

Described as a historic initiative, the summit seeks to unite sons and daughters of Uhunmwode under the slogan “Aro Ogbon”—symbolizing a new phase of economic rebirth and community pride.

“This is a clarion call to all sons and daughters of Uhunmwode to share ideas, contribute meaningfully, expand their network, and deploy resources for the growth and progress of Uhunmwode,” the Chairman declared.

He noted that the area’s reputation as the poorest and least developed local government in Edo State is both “shameful and unacceptable,” emphasizing his administration’s determination to reverse the narrative through collaborative stakeholder engagement and private sector participation.

“As an administration, we are determined to do all we can to upturn the negative reports about our local government,” Hon. Iredia stated. “We call on all sons and daughters of Uhunmwode to assist in this rebuilding process so that we can all have a place to call home.”

The summit is being hosted by the Uhunmwode Local Government Council and organized by Princely Reactivation Ltd, a policy strategy and management consultancy headed by Mariam Erakhoba Ilavbare Esq, a distinguished indigene of Uhunmwode.

Further details about the summit and its activities will be released as plans continue to unfold.
