Oriental News Hosts 4th Energy Conference, Urges Federal Government To Act On Stakeholders’ Recommendations

Mrs. Yemisi Izuora, Publisher Oriental News

Publisher of Oriental News Nigeria, Yemisi Izuora, has emphasized the crucial role of gas in Nigeria’s energy transition efforts, as her online news platform successfully hosted the fourth edition of its annual Energy Lecture Series, gathering top industry stakeholders to address key issues shaping the energy and economic landscape.

The event, themed around the Federal Government’s Energy Transition Initiative, focused specifically on the increasing relevance of gas as a cleaner energy source with far-reaching potential in electricity generation, transportation through Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and domestic usage.

Speaking at the forum, Izuora said:
“The lecture’s theme is aligned with the Federal Government’s drive toward energy transition, and gas is a central part of that plan. Gas powers the electricity sector, contributes to cleaner transport via CNG, and is the cleanest option currently available for cooking. Government is encouraging the conversion of vehicles to CNG, and that message needs to be amplified.”

She noted that this year’s edition of the conference also featured an added focus: recognition of outstanding women in the oil and gas sector, acknowledging their contributions to the industry’s growth and innovation.

On the role of Oriental News Nigeria, Izuora explained that the platform has consistently used its voice to push industry conversations that can impact the country’s economic direction.
“This is the fourth edition of this conference, and our goal remains to consistently bring together stakeholders to deliberate on subjects that matter to Nigeria’s economic development,” she said.

Looking ahead, Izuora urged the Federal Government to take seriously the communique that will be issued at the end of the conference.

“We expect the Federal Government to review and implement the key resolutions from this lecture. These ideas, if executed, can significantly boost the Nigerian economy,” she stated.

The annual Oriental News Energy Lecture Series has become a significant platform for shaping policy conversations and fostering collaboration among public and private energy stakeholders.
