The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a significant international milestone with Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni winning a highly competitive election for membership on the INTERPOL Africa Committee. The election took place during the 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, securing Nigeria’s fifth seat on the Committee for a two-year term.
In a statement signed by the Force Spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, fCAI, the INTERPOL Africa Committee plays a crucial role in advising the African Regional Conference on its mandate, facilitating its sessions, and identifying strategic crime priorities. The Committee also promotes cross-border police cooperation, encourages best practices, and develops initiatives to enhance security across the region and continent.
This accomplishment underscores Nigeria’s expanding influence and leadership in global law enforcement, particularly in tackling transnational crime, terrorism, and other evolving threats. With CP Olubode’s election, Nigeria is poised to contribute significantly to shaping regional and international policing strategies within the INTERPOL framework.
