NANTA Seeks Strategic Partnership With Interior Ministry To Boost Travel, Tourism

The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) has pledged its readiness to collaborate with the Federal Government in advancing Nigeria’s travel and tourism agenda, as it seeks strategic partnership with the Ministry of Interior.

This commitment was reaffirmed during a courtesy visit by the NANTA leadership to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in Abuja.

Receiving the delegation, the Minister commended the association’s initiative, stating that effective governance thrives on stakeholder engagement and constructive feedback. “Every good leadership takes feedback from stakeholders,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo said, while reiterating the ministry’s willingness to work with credible institutions.

NANTA President, Mr. Yinka Folami, who led the delegation, praised the Minister’s reform-driven leadership and quick response to their request for engagement. He noted that NANTA, a 50-year-old association with global reach, has remained proudly Nigerian, promoting the country’s image across Africa, Europe, the United Kingdom, America, and beyond.

“Your prompt response to our request for this engagement is one of many examples of your commitment to positive change,” Folami stated, adding that NANTA continues to play a vital role in national development through tourism, travel facilitation, and global partnerships.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo, in his remarks, affirmed the Federal Government’s support for structured, transparent, and development-oriented bodies such as NANTA. He lauded Nigerians for their resilience and cultural vibrancy, describing them as hospitable and exceptionally productive.

On visa and diplomatic issues, the Minister emphasized that Nigeria’s immigration policies are based on reciprocity, but assured that the country remains committed to fairness and mutual respect in all international engagements. He also urged NANTA and Nigerians at large to speak positively about the country, stating confidently, “Nigeria will rebound.”

To commemorate the visit, NANTA presented a plaque to the Minister, recognizing his visionary leadership and expressing support for future collaboration. In response, Dr. Tunji-Ojo pledged to create a sustainable engagement channel with NANTA, assuring that the Ministry would follow up to explore avenues for partnership in the national interest.
