The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has congratulated the newly appointed and confirmed chairman and managing director of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), describing their appointments as a bold and strategic move toward regional revitalization.
In a statement issued by his director of press and public affairs, Gyang Bere, on June 28, 2025, the governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for not only establishing the commission but also for selecting individuals of high calibre to lead it. He noted that the Senate’s confirmation of the appointments signals a renewed hope for sustainable development in the North Central region.
Governor Mutfwang specifically celebrated the appointments of Cosmas T. Akyhir as the pioneer chairman and Tsenyi Cyril Yiltsen as the managing director/CEO of the commission. He expressed strong confidence in their ability to steer the affairs of the NCDC effectively, alongside other members of the board, given their vast experience across public and private sectors.
“These appointees are seasoned administrators and accomplished technocrats,” Mutfwang said, emphasizing that their appointment reflects a commitment to inclusive governance, broad-based representation, and results-driven leadership.
He stressed the crucial role of the commission in addressing challenges such as infrastructural deficits, youth empowerment, economic inclusion, and security, and highlighted the need for the NCDC to coordinate strategic interventions from both the federal government and development partners.
While acknowledging the historical developmental challenges facing the North Central zone, the governor expressed optimism that the commission’s establishment would restore public trust in governance and provide a platform for poverty alleviation and regional transformation.
Governor Mutfwang, on behalf of the government and people of Plateau State, extended warm congratulations to the appointees and prayed for divine guidance, sound health, and the strength to fulfill their mandates.
