Moniepoint Backs Youth Empowerment Through Oratory Contest In Delta State

Moniepoint Inc, one of Africa’s leading fintech institutions, has reinforced its commitment to youth development by partnering with the Mega Impact Foundation to support the 5th edition of the NextGen Connect Interschool Oratory Competition in Asaba, Delta State.

The event, which commemorated the International Day of the Boy Child, brought together senior secondary school students (SS2) from across the state to debate the theme: “The Role of Financial Inclusion and Technology in Shaping a Brighter Future for Young People in Africa.”

Moniepoint’s involvement underscores its broader mission of promoting financial inclusion and human capital development across the continent. The competition showcased remarkable oratorical talent among Nigerian youths, with Otovo Praise of Crystalloid International School emerging as the overall winner. Praise’s articulate delivery earned him a full-year scholarship courtesy of the Tosin Eniolorunda STEM Foundation.

Audi Innocent of St Patrick’s College came in second place, receiving a ₦300,000 cash prize, while Asher David of Glorious Kids Academy secured third place and was awarded ₦200,000.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Tosin Eniolorunda, CEO of Moniepoint Inc, emphasized the company’s dedication to empowering Africa’s future leaders through education.

“At Moniepoint, we believe that driving sustainable innovation begins with future-proofing and expanding the talent pool by empowering the next generation with the tools they need to succeed—especially basic literacy skills, which remain fundamental pillars in socio-economic development,” he said.

Eniolorunda further highlighted Moniepoint’s previous initiatives such as the donation of a CAD/CAM lab to Obafemi Awolowo University and the Moniepoint DreamDevs programme, which provide young Africans with practical tools for technological advancement.

The competition also served as a platform for young people to express their views on pressing issues while building public speaking and critical thinking skills. Through its support for related initiatives like the NextGen Connect Conference and Tech-In-School conversations, Moniepoint is helping nurture a new generation of socially aware and intellectually equipped youth.

Founder of the Mega Impact Foundation, Florence Ogonegbu, reaffirmed the vision behind the initiative, stating, “We are building an Africa where every young person has simplified access to sustainable education, capacity building, and empowerment. With partners like Moniepoint, we are not just shaping futures—we are driving a movement for social development that will resonate globally.”

The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Delta State also lent its support to the event, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in nurturing young talent across Nigeria.
