Taraba Governor, CJN, PSC Chairman Pay Heartfelt Tributes
The final rites for late Mrs. Zeporah Galumje, wife of retired Supreme Court Justice and Commissioner at the Police Service Commission, Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, were held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in an emotional farewell that drew dignitaries from across Nigeria to Didan, Kurmi Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The solemn ceremony turned the quiet Didan community into a centre of national attention as top judicial officers, senior government functionaries, traditional rulers, and friends gathered to honour the late matriarch. Among those present were high-ranking judicial officials, a strong delegation from the Police Service Commission, and senior police officers.
The funeral Mass witnessed moving tributes from the Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeal, Kano, Justice Mohammed Danjuma; the Chief Judge of Taraba State; Senator Emmanuel Bwacha; the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC); and officiating ministers, among others.
In his condolence message, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, described Mrs. Zeporah as “a quiet but formidable force of grace, character, and strength,” adding that her life was marked by “unwavering faith, sacrificial love, and quiet dignity.”
“Behind your long and illustrious career of integrity and distinction on the Bench stood a woman of immense courage, patience, and support,” the governor told Justice Galumje.
Also eulogizing the late Mrs. Galumje, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, GCON, described her as “a graceful, supportive and God-fearing woman whose devotion to her family was evident to all.”
Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), in a letter delivered by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at the Commission, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, especially as it followed the recent passing of Justice Galumje’s brother.
“Your strength, humility, and service to this nation have long inspired us all,” Argungu noted. “The Commission stands with you and your family in this time of grief.”
The Chief Mourner, Justice Galumje, expressed gratitude on behalf of his family to everyone who supported them during the trying period.
“To all who came from far and near and contributed in various ways to make this funeral ceremony a success, we say: May the good Lord reward you and grant you journey mercies,” he said.
Mrs. Zeporah Galumje was interred at her husband’s compound in Didan amidst prayers, tributes, and heartfelt condolences that reflected a life well lived and deeply cherished.
