JournalNG, one of Nigeria’s foremost publications with a strong focus on maritime reporting, has been awarded the Best Maritime Magazine Award by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON).
The recognition was presented at the AMJON Annual Conference held in Lagos on Friday, July 17, 2025. The award celebrates JournalNG’s consistency as a bi-weekly publication and its role in bridging information gaps within the maritime industry.
In a letter jointly signed by AMJON President Kelvin Kagbare, Secretary Segun Oladipupo, and Chairman of the Planning Committee Paul Ogbuokiri, the magazine was praised for its credibility and outstanding contributions to maritime journalism.
According to the trio, JournalNG stands out as a dependable resource and reference publication, noted for its high-quality content and well-researched articles that resonate with stakeholders across the maritime sector. They also highlighted its engaging editorial style, innovative design, and visually striking layouts as key elements that earned the magazine the prestigious recognition.
During the award citation, Ugo Ezurike, Publisher of *Nation Update*, lauded JournalNG for its growing digital innovation, use of entertaining cartoons, multimedia content, and exceptional deployment of imagery and infographics to complement its reporting.
Reacting to the honour, JournalNG Publisher Ismail Aniemu expressed gratitude and described the award as a motivation for his team’s commitment to maritime journalism. He dedicated the award to all members of his editorial team, applauding their support and dedication to journalism as both a profession and a social service for societal development.
