
The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has donated a fully completed administrative block worth ₦250 million to Al-Qalam University’s College of Allied Health Sciences in Katsina State. The project was commissioned on Thursday under the organisation’s Tertiary Education Grant Scheme (TEGS), which aims to bridge infrastructure gaps and promote academic excellence across tertiary institutions in Africa.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Vice Chancellor of Al-Qalam University, Prof. Nasiru Musa Yauri, expressed gratitude to ASR Africa for the donation. He said the facility was strategically located to support the university’s planned expansion into allied health sciences and revealed that partnerships had been formalised with major healthcare facilities across Katsina State for clinical training.
Managing Director of ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh, commended the university’s management for its cooperation during construction, which ensured the project was completed on schedule. He urged the institution to ensure proper use of the facility.
Representing the Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, thanked ASR Africa Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, for investing in the state’s tertiary education sector. He said the administration has prioritised education as a driver of societal growth.
The new administrative block, equipped with furnished offices and conference halls, will support the university’s preparations to offer degree programmes in Nursing Science, Public Health, Radiography, Physiotherapy, Optometry, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.
ASR Africa, founded in 2021 by industrialist and philanthropist Abdul Samad Rabiu, focuses on providing sustainable, homegrown solutions to development challenges in health, education, and social development across Africa.
