The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has reaffirmed the Command’s determination to restore and sustain peace and security across the state, urging residents to expose criminals who hide under the guise of self-government agitation to commit violent crimes.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Commissioner appealed to community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders to assist the Force by identifying individuals involved in extortion, abduction, and targeted attacks, which have recently been linked to criminal elements disguising as separatist agitators.
CP Orutugu noted that Anambra State, historically known for its peaceful, innovative, industrious, and tolerant spirit, must not be allowed to fall victim to those seeking to exploit unrest for selfish ends.
“The safety and progress of Anambra lie in our collective resolve to say no to violence and criminality in any form,” the statement read.
He stressed that the Police Command remains committed to working with local communities, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to dismantle criminal networks and ensure a secure environment for all residents.
The public has been advised to report any suspicious activity or request security assistance by calling the Command Control Room on 07039194332 or the PPRO on 08039334002 for prompt response.
